Majek Vineyard
Majek Vineyard is located on our property, which is in South Central Texas between Houston and San Antonio. Our climate is warm and, sometimes wet. Our soil leans on the alkaline side, more like San Antonio than Houston.
The Vineyard consists of three half-acre blocks. We planted the first two blocks in 2013, one block of Blanc Du Bois and one block of Black Spanish. In 2015, we planted the third block in Black Spanish.
Blanc Du Bois (a white grape) and Black Spanish (a red grape) are two of the few wine grapes that flourish in this area. Both are very tolerant of the high heat and humidity we experience.
Approximately half of Majek Wines are made from Blanc Du Bois or Black Spanish, either from our grapes or from neighboring vineyards in Lavaca County. Our other wines are made from grapes sourced in the Texas High Plains or Texas Hill Country.
